TableCheck has appointed Kohei Katada as its new external director. 

The newly appointed director, who has a wealth of experience and achievements in financial and business management both in domestic and overseas startups, will help strengthen TableCheck’s finance department to accelerate further business growth.

Katada will aid TableCheck in fulfilling its mission of connecting diners and restaurants, thereby propelling it to become a world-leading technology company originating from Japan.

Since TableCheck’s founding in 2011, the company has expanded its services to 32 countries and regions around the world, catering to more than 8000+ clients worldwide including 200+ Michelin-starred restaurants. The company now eyes rapid global expansion and profit growth in the coming years.

TableCheck CEO Yu Taniguchi states:

Although we were unable to take aggressive risk-taking during the COVID-19 pandemic that lasted for more than three years starting in 2020, our business is now growing rapidly again, both domestically and internationally, as the global restaurant market recovers. We are aiming for "global domination" by reforming our organization and raising funds to once again grow our business at top speed and advance to the next phase. One of the measures we have decided to take is to welcome Mr. Katada to our Board of Directors.

Katada comments:

Since my 50th birthday and after COVID-19, I became much more aware of what’s important: ‘How many more times will I be able to share a delicious meal with my beloved family, friends, and colleagues? It was during this time that I met Mr. Taniguchi, the founder of TableCheck. His desire to build a global team and connect restaurants and customers around the world resonated with me, which led me to accept the position of external director of the company.

One of my missions is to "connect the startup ecosystem in Japan and around the world. This means contributing to the success of startups from Japan that are aiming for the world and communicating Japan's potential to investors and entrepreneurs around the world. I feel that Table Check is a company with such great potential, and I will do my utmost to contribute to our global expansion and increase shareholder value.

About Kohei Katada

After graduating from university, Mr. Kohei Katada joined Morgan Stanley Securities (now Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities), where he worked in the investment banking division. After working for an asset management company, he joined Lifenet Insurance in March 2008. He was in charge of planning, business development, and preparation for IPO listing, and has been CFO since 2013.

In 2014, he joined Smart News as head of the corporate division, where he led the launch of the administrative division and raised a total of 8.6 billion yen capital. In 2019, he was appointed CFO of Gojo & Co. He also serves as an external board member of VisaScu and Harmonia. He is a Certified Securities Analyst (CMA) of the Securities Analysts Association of Japan.
